Just for my own information, can you provide documentation for this statement? IMO, even telling them that I cannot notarize a will is giving advice, therefore UPL.
That's why I just tell people what I've seen (i.e. CA wills needing witnesses, not notarizations) and that it's best to consult with an attorney, because I'm not only not qualified, I'm not allowed to give legal advice. It may be a subtle difference but I think it's an important one. (And FWIW, I can't recall ever notarizing a will for someone living here in CA.) |
