I agree with Steve. In fact, I remember one time I tried dropping off at the counter not too long ago. The staff person picked up the package from the counter and, intending to be helpful, started to walk it over to the lobby scanner to show me how to do it myself. [eye roll...] My guess is that this is FedEx's equivalent to self-checkout at the grocery store in an attempt to reduce staff.
I'd make an issue out of it if it was close to cutoff time, but after a certain point, they generally put a sign up on the box next to the do-it-yourself scanner anyway, asking people to take packages to the counter. So I'm not going to worry about it. |
