Curious...were you told by title to have this initialed before the signing? If so, it's a no brainer and best not to try to make sense of what others (lenders, title, secondary market investors) are doing.

It's also true, they may not know what they're doing, and it would be a bugger if they required the initials after the signing.

On the flip side, how to complete the 1003 is not our call. Following the instructions from HUD to the letter as a signing agent is commendable and good to know, but the 1003 and instructions are not set in cement. This statement can lead to a heated debate, but it is what it is.
