Request for a Certified German Birth Certificate
Posted by  Cheryl Elliott of CA on 1/17/25 11:30am Msg #649987
My client tried to get one from the General Consulate for Germany in LA, but they don't do this.

There are a lot of websites out there where they charge an arm and a leg to process these, and it takes 6 - 8 weeks. My client needs it to get her Social Security Benefits started. Although she has been in this country for decades, and has paid into SS all this time, she hasn't ever been asked for a Certified copy of her Birth Certificate.

Any experience out there, and how to fast track this process.
