SnapDocs (SD) and Signing Order (SO) are both platforms where Signing Services (SS), Title Companies (TC), etc. post available jobs. Think of those platforms as being comparable to bulletin boards.
The notary accepts a signing through the platform. The hiring party, SS or TC, pays the notary. That payment may be directly from the hiring party or may be via the platform's vendor pay program. Either way, payment is from the hiring party. The hiring party is legally obligated to generate a 1099-NEC to any vendor that has received cummulative payments in excess of $600 each calendar year. In other words, if ABC company paid you $250 during the entire year of 2024, they are not required to send you a 1099-NEC. However, DEF company paid you $750 throughout all of 2024, therefore, DEF is required to send you a 1099-NEC. This information is available on the IRS 'site. http://www.irs.gov/instructions/i1099mec
Note: It is my considered opinion that one should report all income ... regardless of receipt of 1099. IRS seems to agree. http://www.irs.gov/newsroom/what-to-do-when-a-w-2-or-form-1099-is-missing-or-incorrect
