|I watched part of the Senate hearing on Tuesday, and couldn't believe how Barr was mischaracterizing parts of the report that I had read, especially in regards to obstruction. He was clearly acting as Trump's defense attorney rather than as the AG, at one point trying to parse the difference between Trump "directing" McGhan to fire Mueller and "telling" him to do it. And the GOP senators were priceless, some of them trying to shift the focus back to Hillary's emails. The amount of cover thee political hacks are willing to provide for Trump is amazing,|
Then Barr refused to appear before the House committee on Wednesday because he objected to their decision to allow outside counsel to question him, claiming it was "inappropriate". Why? The deal was that each member of the committee would get their five minutes to ask questions - which he has shown to be adept at stalling by asking for more clarification and generally filibustering until time runs out and he hasn't provided an answer - followed by an hour of questioning by staff counsel - 30 minutes for the Dems, 30 minutes for the GOP. How is that inappropriate? He agreed to the extra hour, but not to the format. Yet in September, the GOP HIRED outside counsel to question Dr. Blasey Ford during her appearance before the Senate Judiciary Committee's confirmation hearing for Justice BeerKeg - um, Kavanaugh. THAT was OK, but THIS was inappropriate?
The best takeaway from Wednesday's aborted hearing - the Dem Rep from Tennessee showed up with a bucket of KFC and a porcelain chicken.
