"Let's please stop the politics of this virus shall we?"
Trump STARTED the politicization of it by saying it was just another hoax intended to affect his reelection campaign. He didn't even believe it was a real thing. Junior then tweeted out that the Dems wanted the virus to kill millions so that they could stop all of Trump's "winning". But because some people are criticizing this administration's slow and botched response to this so far, you think we're the ones making it political.
"The common flu has affected and killed more people than the corona virus."
Did you even read the full article you cited? Here's a direct quote from it:
"The death rate from seasonal flu is typically around 0.1% in the U.S., according to The New York Times.
The death rate for COVID-19 appears to be higher than that of the flu."
The article also points out that we know a LOT about the flu and we have vaccines to mitigate it, but very little about COVID-19 because it's a virus we've never seen before. If the mortality rates I mentioned in my OP stay anywhere near those numbers and this becomes a pandemic, it could easily eclipse the death rate of the Spanish flu. I'm not saying that to be alarmist, but just to be realistic. You can't just wave it off and say the flu is worse. We still don't know what this virus will do. It's a variant of the virus that caused SARS, and like that one it may cause a lot of damage and then suddenly disappear. We just don't know.
"So please stop blaming it on Trump."
I'm not blaming it on Trump, I'm criticizing his administration's reaction to this public health emergency. At no point did I say that Trump is responsible for the presence of COVID-19 here in America. What I DID say was that his past decisions and policies have gutted NIH and the CDC, making it much more difficult for them to react to an emerging crisis. That's fact. You're a MAGA guy - are you proud that we're behind the rest of the world in our ability to deal with this?
