That doesn't change the fact that the warrant has to be specific. They can't be coming in and snatching random people off the street in the hope of finding someone who committed a crime against a federal officer.
That's just basic 4th Amendment stuff - "no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized."
How do you square that with an armed, anonymous group of thugs snatching people off the street? Why weren't they wearing any identifying insignias and refusing to identify themselves? THAT happens in a dictatorship, not a democracy. |
