He ran as a Democrat and on their ticket, maybe not by choice. He didn't run as an independent so he could make it farther. He probably would have been better than Biden in all honesty, but we all know the Dems wouldn't have that.
Voting for 1 person makes no sense. The President is not an island but represents a party of its peers and what they stand for. It's the Senate and Congress who pass the bills, and easier if that President sides with the majority who do. If not, everything trying to get passed gets vetoed. Nothing gets done and happens a lot.
If you want things to happen, voting straight party lines locally and federally is the way to go. You just have to decide which party morals and standards you align with, and not singular people who by themselves cannot control much, and the influence is by their party. jmo
