500%??
Where are you getting these numbers?
Here's an article from a media outlet that has no dog in this hunt:
http://www.aljazeera.com/news/2021/4/8/us-mexico-border-sees-71-percent-increase-in-migrant-crossings
And here's another one that includes an actual graph that uses (gasp!) real data:
http://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2021/03/23/theres-no-migrant-surge-us-southern-border-heres-data/
See that huge spike? That was 2019. Who was in charge in 2019?
See that blue line? That's 2021 to date. Does that look higher than the 2019 spike? How in any alternative mathematical reality do you get to a 500% increase?
And before anyone says that this is the number of those who were CAUGHT crossing the border - yes, that's true, but that is all we have to work with because how do you know how many were not caught? By definition, we can't possibly know what that number is, because (duh!) they weren't caught. So claiming that there is a 500% increase in people NOT caught is just pulling a number out of your butt - there's no way to prove it one way or the other.
