Thank you. I agree. I sincerely hope the children will be spared from long covid or worse. For them, it's Russian Roulette.
My niece just had a big baby shower (multi-generations, 60 guests) held outside, no questions asked, no masks, mostly unvaccinated. She was overwhelmed about how to proceed (and felt pressured), and I wish that I had the opportunity to speak with her about it sooner - before she sent out the invitations, as she felt stuck in her initial decision.
She's holding things very close to the chest. I just wish I could break through that wall, even just a little bit, to show her some things to consider - or other ideas and options. She knows I won't judge her or admonish her, so that's a good start, but I'm still not there....ugh.
