There's a difference, of course, between one 2-year term in the House and one 6-year term in the Senate. But having said that, I saw a brief interview with Donalds since my above post and he left a very positive impression (even if I may disagree with some of his politics). I suspect we'll be hearing more from this guy in the future. I think it's likely that there was some cynical posturing on both sides of this issue.
For some reason, this reminded me of my first corporate job out of college. It was a work-flow center, processing customer data on paper (before computers of any kind). Some of us in supervisory positions observed that there seemed to be two separate categories amongst our peers. The few of us who were female or minority seemed to have to meet a much higher standard... Much has changed since then - but not everything.
