Restaurants do not have to participate in the platform, so if that is the angle you are going for, then yes, I believe they take a % for the use of their platform - advertising to get those delivery orders. If they do not participate, then customers will use the app anyway and go to the next restaurant that does and place their order with them.
Most restaurants here have free delivery over $25.00, so no need to use those services, uness a lower bill. There are plenty of people working these gig jobs making ends meet who do this as their job or PT job. Restaurants are not stuck and can do their own delivery and refuse to participate. The bottom line is, it is a great tool for advertising and revenue when people are really not keen on going out right now. They are not liking to pay the 20%? Then offer free delivery on their own I guess. Many people though just like to go to an app and have all their fav restaurants handy.
Snapdocs come to mind? They charge $15.00 for each signing on the platform, who pays for it? |
