So today went better than expected. It is a 2.5 year study. I had my physical, then they did the nasal swab both nostrils (worst things ever, jk but not pleasant), blood work, urine test, and then the shot. Shot didn't hurt at all, and about 10 seconds felt a very slight burn for about a minute. Left no bruising or swelling and cannot even tell I got a shot and feel fine. They sent me home with a digital diary, digital thermometer and oxygen meter for the finger... I have to record for 7 days to monitor my temp. and oxygen level, heart rate. IF I get sick or flu-like covid symptoms, I have 3 home nasal test kits I must do and send back, one a day for 3 days in a row. If I get COVID now, I am under their care and they cover medical costs. Each visit pays $150.00 and unscheduled visits $75.00 if I get sick and have to go back in between for something. I have a 2 out 3 chance of getting the vaccine. Once the trail opens up and "unblinds" itself, I will know what I have. The Dr. thinks it will be about mid-March. If I did have the placebo, at that time they give me the real vaccine, no waiting in line. I think it's a win-win. During the next 2.5 years, I go back every few months for blood work where they measure the antibodies to see how many and how well I am protected. If anyone thinking of participating, I would go for it. My next shot is Feb.13th |
