This performance artist tossed 99 cell phones into a little red wagon and took a leisurely stroll down a major street and across a bridge somewhere in Germany. Google Maps soon reported a major traffic jam on the route he was taking - even though it was just him, his little red wagon, and a bunch of cell phones.

For those of you who use Waze (as I sometimes do), they are owned by Google and are probably subject to the same type of hack. I've learned not to trust their traffic warnings because most of the time I've sailed through the area the app said is congested. You get a bus or two with 30 or 40 passengers on each, all with cell phones, and it starts to look to Google like there's a lot of traffic on the road.
