So far, I've taken what may be the easy (and cheap) way out. Partly on the recommendation of some savvy cousins of mine, I went with Kaiser. They have a brand new hospital and several other modern medical facilities near me and I've read that they're the only 5-star program in my area.
However, I wasn't too happy with the doctor I had, but she moved to a different county, so I've been assigned to a new doctor who starts Jan 1. I'll give her a try and can always make a different choice (plan and/or doctor) next year. In the meantime, I have the part B premium taken out of my SS, and pay very little beyond that. No 20% of cost of services. Starting 1/1/22, it looks like all co-pays are gone for my area, too. The few other services I've had to pay for since I started Medicare have been pretty minimal.
What I'm considering, though, is a separate dental insurance policy. The 'free' dental insurance that's available under Advantage Plus for an extra $16+/mo is only Dental Dental HMO. I tried that coverage once before and it was awful because of how little they're willing to pay dentists, forcing some of them to cut corners. Never again. I recently found out I have another crown in my fairly near future, so it might be worth my while to sign up for an individual plan - at least for a year. Choosing is the tough part. I got a list from my current dentist, but it's a long one. Wish I knew someone who handles that type of insurance in this area!
Are we having fun yet?!! I don't think so...
