This was interesting. Never had heard this in the news. Haven't finished the video interviews; honestly too painful to hear all these poor folks are enduring.
Moving myself to a high elevation, I took notice of the various dirt trench mile-long off-ramps for truckers to use in runaway situations. Them there mountains {is} dangerous (yeah, buddy).
I am convinced that this young man (too immature & inexperienced to have been driving this rig, imo) wielded the truck with extreme recklessness, irresponsibility and indifference.* BUT regards his sentencing... once he's served *some* time for accountability (that is what seems to be the real thorn for the victims), perhaps his time would be better spent OUTSIDE of jail working to pay some form of restitution to victims and educating others on road safety. Naturally, he shouldn't be allowed to acquire a CDL license in any State.
As far as the governor's input (or not)... [no comment].
*The govt there is ironically wielding the law in a similar manner - even if the sentence handed is, of course less than 100+ years! |
