Even if you could understand the fractured English when they called you, the FASS operation was crazy. This White Glove junk, shrinking fees, and all of the other detritus that went along with it - got rid of it long ago, and happier for it.
As for our industry - I don't recommend that anyone get into it. With all of the chiseling and increasing greed by others who are NOT doing the actual signing, there are appear to be very few companies willing to pay the Signing Agent what he/she should rightfully be paid.
Instead, THEY want SSA Certification, Background Checks, Driver's License Copies, Commission Copies, Errors and Omissions Policies, (most want $25,000), Notary Bond, W-9's, Mountainous Fax Backs/scans for No Reason, TRID Certificates, FNF Letter Set (5), Bank of America Certification, Wells Fargo Certification, and ridiculous contracts/agreements. Add computers, monitors, printers, paper requirements for the giant loans) (letter AND legal) and all the ancillary equipment.
Add to this, we are showered with 190 page loan packages (x2), late payments, people trying to scam us every day, non-payments from scammer signing companies, billing requirements (different forms, different submission times), invoicing requirements, driving requirements for which they don't want to pay, and of course, the ubiquitous lowball fees that rain down upon us. Who in the @#$% is doing the WORK here? $175 signing fee from Title, signing company wants to offer $75 and keep $100. For a phone call to any notary willing to answer the phone? Sure, why not, because DUMB NOTARIES let them get away with it. Since many "notaries" somehow think they are making money, it will continue to happen, and this job just continues to circle the drain, the circle becoming smaller and smaller.
Sorry, just seems to be hot button day - but think about it - it's true. |
