It is really difficult first of all. The inmate must first put you on a "visitor's list" and get you approved....could take as long as a month or 2. Next you will be subject of being searched and possibly waiting awhile before the inmate see's you. Some cannot me face to face, but on a TV screen, no personal contact. They have to have their proper government ID, which if incarcerated, maybe a problem to obtain. The time, effort put forth usually doesn't = the hassle for most notaries. If they have a public defender, they can usually make arrangement to get that handled through them. JMO from what I heard. IF the notary on staff does not do it, take it as a warning...she doesn't want to be involved legally for whatever issues, or get involved and mess around with ID's and what it is they need done. They are in there for a reason. I'd pass. |
