""The inmate's sister, who called me, made the arrangements. We have to go during normal visiting hours of 2:30pm and 4:30pm. I'm meeting her in the "courtyard..." at 2:15pm. She said she has never been in there either.""
Did she get herself and you on the "approved visitors list", or just ask when visiting hours are? Normal visiting hours doesn't mean anyone can just go in, it has to be prearranged in most places. His mom was on the list, but if she is not, high probability she will get in without being interviewed first and paper work submitted for review.
I lived next to a work release center where they could leave during the day, must check in at night, and even there, security was tight. Takes 4-6 weeks to be put on someone's guest list, and then they give you a sheet what you can and cannot do, wear or bring in. Family visiting hours or family days were one afternoon a month and were allowed outside in the courtyard/playground area.
I hope it all goes well, and you didn't waste your time and trip if doesn't happen. Let us know how it went. |
