Yep, we never know what's going on in someone's relationship. Sounds like a definite control freak, so I wouldn't put it past a guy like this to forge her name on the check. Who knows?
I wouldn't want to get into any kind of discussion with a person like that, but when he told her it was illegal (which sounds clearly manipulative to me), I might have played dumb and said something (smiling) like "Really? I didn't know that." From there, it's up to her. If he's controlling to the point of abusive, that could be all the signal she needs to do some research on her own or to reach out to someone for help. If she's the kind of person who just leaves all financial issues up to her husband, and doesn't care, then that's just on her. |
