It's not your call. This is a serious legal issue that requires that you inform the firm which contracted with you.

UNLESS YOU ARE AN ATTORNEY ADMITTED TO THE BAR TO PRACTICE LAW IN YOUR STATE, YOU MUST NOT GIVE LEGAL ADVICE. Giving any legal advice is considered Unauthorized Practice of Law, a serious offense.
