The sun is coming up and the sky above the mountains is hot, red orange...it's getting warm already.
The next five days here are going to get to triple digits. For many of you, especially in FL, AZ, TX, this is no strange event. But for me, triple digits means I need lots of ice tea, to be near water and in the shade. BUT, when I am called for a signing, I've got to dress APPROPRIATELY and PROFESSIONALLY...no tank tops, sandals, or short shorts! Especially when I'm signing at escrow/title or bank offices. The LOs still have their jackets on, button down shirts and ties! I can't imagine!
This will be a challenge, as every one I meet will be in the coolest garb they can find in their closets! inviting me for a cool drink and in the shade if not in their dining room. Incidentally, since we have few days of unseasonable heat, no one in SB even has air conditioning, they just open all their doors and windows, and all the retailers sell out of circulating fans. There won't be a fan to be found except on Amazon!
We're pretty cool here in Santa Barbara, relaxed, casual, but when it comes to signing docs with people at offices and their homes, there is a requirement for APPROPRIATE and PROFESSIONAL attire, and this is when I would really prefer to be a lifeguard! or gardener, or a waitress at a beach side eatery. The traffic will be grueling as there are many fun events for vacationers, weekend visitors, graduates and the brides and grooms and their entouragees.
I'll be glad when the heat wave is over! This is also when everyone invites you to weddings and graduations, all kinds of celebrations, and we find ourselves shoulder to shoulder with next of kin and friends in bleachers and the pews! We find ourselves standing in the blazing sun and no AC.
Will be an interesting, challenging week. The weather man warns everyone to be careful in the heat. A lot of people, especially the elderly, can't withstand these high oppressive temperatures and suffer life threatening heat strokes. Drink lots of fluids with electrolites.
Be careful out there! Have a great rest of the week and weekend. Stay cool if possible!
