I would guess that few of us can account for all of our income just on 1099s - unless a client is sending significantly fraudulent ones. It's our responsibility to keep records of our earnings and report accurately. If done properly, the situation posted about should be a complete non-issue. I don't think my CPA even sends copies of my 1099s with my returns. They get looked over, but reported income comes from my records, not whatever might be on 1099s - which is always much less than what was earned. |
