You can be a notary in MD for general notary work (GNW), but you cannot close loans or even notarize a Deed of Trust that someone brings to you for GNW. Closing loans and notarizing signatures on a DOT in MD requires a Title Producer License (TPL) and a bond. NNA was incorrect if they told you that TPL with bond wasn't required. GNW might be worth your while, but it's just pocket money - certainly not something one can survive on. |
