I interpreted the post very differently. Knowing ananotary, I'm pretty confident that her message wasn't at all intended with disdain or lack of compassion towards anyone. On the contrary.

The point of my post (and I suspect hers as well) was to try to counter the drumbeat that lower fees are a given, whether that be in certain areas or states, or from certain types of companies. When that idea keeps being repeated in various ways, it can influence other notaries into believing they have no choice and that that's just the way the NSA business is. That adds to the problem, imo. If people believe that there's at least a possibility for earning more (even if it's only some of the time), then they can act accordingly, based on their own circumstances. They may then end up being more proactive in negotiating and may end up with more $$ in their pockets once in a while.

It's not about judging anyone. It's about keeping one's options open and not giving up on even the possibility of doing better. We're all free to set our fees however we choose, so I'm not trying to convince anyone that they should do what I do. But I'm going to try to present another perspective whenever anyone makes a broad generalization with an absolute statement that, for example, "The ones in my area do not get that". [I personally have received that kind of fee from at least one tc in that area in the recent past. I know the thread above was referring to ss's, but I'm just sayin'... NSAs don't have to close the door on more $$$!]
