I Would Never Use Pay Pal To Receive Payments From Clients
Posted by  PegiT_MN of MN on 1/15/19 12:04pm Msg #602214
1. Paypal charges a service fee per transaction.

2. Paypal is notorious (as Marilynn pointed out) for phishing and hacking.

3. My Paypal account that was set up for ebay purchases was hacked into and $500.00 was taken out of my bank account. I was the victim of fraud yet it took may telephone conversations with my bank and Paypal convincing them that I did not authorize the purchase.

4. Paypal allows purchasers to do what is called a "chargeback". A chargeback is supposed to protect the purchaser from being ripped-off by a seller for merchandise and services. A perfect example would be if you purchased a dining room table and chairs on ebay and didn't read the fine print and when it arrives it is doll furniture. The seller has a no-return policy. This is where the Paypal "chargeback" comes in. Paypal gives you a complete refund. The problem with chargebacks is that the thieves have learned how to use this to their advantage. Another perfect example would be if you go and notarize a bunch of documents and you accept Paypal as the form of payment. Two weeks later they're short on cash and they call up Paypal and make up an excuse as to why they did not get what they paid for. Paypal takes the money out of your account.

I think Linda says it best . . . "there's always Square". Personally I am a cash or check.
