Mark Stone is the Chairman of the CA State Assembly Judiciary Committee, who wrote the AWESOME analysis of CA AB199. Sending him an online email is a bit complicated the way the system is set up, but his office snail-mail address is below.
I think what's needed now is having them hear from large numbers of us. What we say at this stage isn't nearly as important as large numbers of us (regardless of where you're located) speaking up in support of Mr. Stone's analysis and in opposition to Mr. Calderon's bill. Please copy this information onto whatever forums you know of and let's spread the word. I realize we're approaching EOM, but a sentence or two is really all that's necessary, stating your position either in support or opposition to the bill. It might also be helpful to mention a key issue from Mr. Stone's analysis, unless you can think of something he left out.
At the moment, I can only think of two things to add to Mr. Stone's very comprehensive analysis: 1) Mobile notaries with flexible hours have eliminated nearly all inconvenience from getting docs notarized; and 2) Remote notarization is already taking place in CA by notaries located in other states. [For the record, I'm no longer seeing the ads from the RON company that was advertising here, but that could change. Maybe it's just because it's the weekend?]
Wouldn't it be great for each of these guys to receive boxes full of letters? Much better than an email!
