Trump wanted to make sure that Comey told the truth in his Senate testimony under oath, so he bluffed about having tapes of the conversation. There are no tapes (surprise!), but Trump thinks the bluff worked and he forced Comey to tell the truth. Which means the lies he accused Comey of telling under oath were actually the truth? Which is it - he was lying under oath or he was truthful? It can't be both. I think Comey's "Lordy, I hope there are tapes," comment tells the real story.
Trump seems to think he's still on a reality TV show. Someone needs to tell him that the bluffs and tactics you used in real estate deals really don't translate to politics. They just make you look more like the liar you've already proven yourself to be. |
