What Bear said makes perfect sense. But it's not only if someone moves away, what if someone dies? The first guy might be willing to come back to sign some papers, but the second guy - not so much.

The CU manager probably knows better than a teller how these issues are addressed; have a conversation with him/her. There has to be some procedure to deal with the scenario you mentioned - if for some bizarre reason there's not, your only option is to find another bank.
