Well, certainly no objection to the Presentation - once nerves got under control! Lol
In the interest of TRANSPARENCY (consistency, disclosure, HMDA, ECOA, Dodd-Frank, etc, etc . . . okay, literary license taking over), only voiced objection was its Promotion on the forum (especially as RON connection not readily apparent). If fellow notaries within range of him felt stung a bit, I can see why. They have businesses to run, as well.
Many a notary here has duties & opportunities outside the direct scope of notarial: Loan officers, Realtors, Paralegals, Private Investigators, Insurance, Tax Accountants, App/Web Developers, Marketing Promotions, Couriers, Signing Services, Notary Education Trainers.*
As I said, I think Matt is seeking to improve things; others are "fighting" quietly - not accepting the way business has always been done, working to close gaps in the industry (including in our own business); adding services to support lenders in the field, marketing direct where circumstances allow, pursuing general notarization opportunities and so on.
We're ALL resisting becoming completely irrelevant by reaching out and reinventing Ourselves, maybe even reversing how the public perceives and engages with us. May have to go around the barn to do it, but by George, there's more than one laying hen (or should be).
*Not sure if any Wedding Planners (but petty sure their marriage officiating videos with all the fixin's would be banned here). Remember the Champagne Concierge Notary?!! |
