Hello Marilyn:
I am so very sorry that this has happened to you. I pray that you will recover from your injuries quickly.
I would like to think that the signing company who hired you and the law firm you represented could have at least shown you a little compassion considering all that you went through . . . you were injured and you still completed the assignment.
Sadly, the signing company nor the law firm nor the signer are liable for your injuries. The homeowner is the one that is responsible for your injuries, and the homeowner is the one that you need to contact.
You need to find out who exactly owns the house and then you need to contact them and let them know that you were injured on their property and need to file a claim with their insurance company. If they say that they only have fire insurance, well then you can let them know that you will be suing them in court for your injuries.
I would seriously consider contacting a personal injury lawyer in your area to help you handle the situation. Do not contact the signing company or the law firm or the signer as you will never get anywhere with any of them and it will only be upsetting to you. Right now you need to focus on recovering from your injuries.
If you would like some assistance in this matter, please feel free to pm me and I will help you find a personal injury attorney in your area that might be good, as well as researching county records to find out who the owner of record is for the property where you were injured.
Again, I am so sorry for your horrible accident. You are a great notary to have been hurt so badly and still completed the job you were hired to do. I wish you all the best in your recovery and in your pursuit of settlement for your injuries.
