Your position, Sheri, would be fine in Florida if all the notarial certificates are acknowledgements. But if a jurat is in the package, the borrower MUST date his/her signature the same as the date on my notarial certificate. After all, they are swearing Before Me in the present, not yesterday or the day before.
Acknowlegements may be notarized even if the signer signs his name last week and brings it before me today. I still date the certificate with today's date, because he stands before me today acknowleging he is who he is and he affirms it is his authentic signature. Oh, and last but not least, he says he knows what 's in the document. |
