Fiscal Impact of CA remote notarization
Posted by Matt Miller of CA on 1/28/19 11:12am Msg #602575
Last year when the same bill (AB2368) was analyzed, this was the projected fiscal impact to the state in case anyone was wondering:

FISCAL EFFECT:
1) Total onetime costs of $25 million (GF) to the Information Technology (IT) Department
within the SOS over several years to implement new technology changes, hire staff, hire a
one-time contractor, and hardware/software/licensing costs.
2) Ongoing annual costs of approximately $6.5 million (GF) to the IT Department for project
administration and infrastructure costs.
3) Annual costs of $1.9 million (GF) for the first year and $561,000 (GF) ongoing to the
Business Program Division within the SOS for additional staff and increased Office of
Administrative Hearings costs.
