Today the New York Times has a story about DMV offices being overwhelmed by people trying to get RealID driver licenses in time for October, when Homeland Security claims people won't be able to board planes unless they have a RealID driver license, non-driver ID, or another compliant credential like a passport. Here's the story:

The story focuses on New York and New Jersey, but says the problem is nationwide. Of course this may affect notaries if signer's licenses expire before they can get an appointment. We also may be seeing more of the temporary licenses people get during their visit to the DMV, while they're waiting for the regular license to arrive in the mail.
This shouldn't be a problem for me; I'm allowed to accept an ID up to 3 years after it expired. |
