There might be two different programs, I'm not sure. The one I mentioned seems to be training on how to provide very limited help, just translating answers and writing the answers down. Anyone is allowed to do this in most states, even without any training at all. See

California, and maybe some other states, have decided to regulate even this very simple help, if you're getting paid at all. There is a special state-regulated license or registration that lets provide this simple help. Perhaps NNA has, or had, a course for that; I'm not sure.
Personally, I can't imagine how a translator would be able to stay in the "write down the answer" lane and not stray into the "legal advice" lane. I also can't imagine how a person who isn't able to fill out the form him/herself would be competent to give the right answers. |
