Most closing statements don't itemize notary fees or notary signing fees. The notary fee is an account payable outside of closing for the title company. The borrower is left with the escrow closing fee as shown on the CD which covers the entire closing for title company. It would be difficult to prove an overcharge. For my GN work, I have an itemized invoice with entries for the state mandated maximum notary fee per document and the other itemization for service charge. This is evidence that the signers are never overcharged for the notary fee. |
