The parts of the HIPPA rules I've been trained on are about covered entities (doctors, hospitals, ambulance services, medical billing firms, etc.) disclosing information to those who are not eligible to receive the information without permission of the patient (or the patient's guardian).
Ordinarily, a person may give out his/her own medical information to anyone he/she pleases.
Perhaps there is a law somewhere that keeps certain non-medical organizations from asking about medical information before letting a person enter, travel, or that sort of thing. But I am not familiar with any such law. Even if such law exists, there's a very good chance it isn't part of HIPPA. |
