For the most part, I appreciate when the LO attends a signing. S/he's there ready to answer any questions that may arise.
In my 15+ years of doing this, I've had 2 memorable occasions of LOs attending.
1) LO was already there when I arrived and they were already in a lively conversation about their recent vacations. LO welcomes me and tells me to go ahead with signing. I start in by filling in my journal and having borrowers sign it and fingerprint it. I ask if LO has gone over figures and terms with them. LO smiles and says they're ready to sign and she continues her vacation stories with borrowers chiming in. Okay, fine. I present each doc by pointing at title on page and then pointing at signature lines. At conclusion, I ask if there's any question, I administer oath, gather my stuff, thank them, hand them their copy and bid them adieu. (I'm not a happy camper)
2) We're meeting at LO's office. When I arrive, she welcomes me with a water bottle and introduces me round the table. I complete my journal. She asks if I mind if she conducts the signing and I just notarize. No problem. She does a wonderful job of explaining each doc and passes me whatever needs notarization. (I'm a very happy camper)
Then, I have another local LO who likes to attend most of his signings. He doesn't interfere but assures everyone at the beginning that he's there in case of any questions. I like and appreciate this young man.
In short, I appreciate when the LO is ready and willing to assist rather than hinder. jmo
Thank you, Bear. Sounds like you're a wonderfully efficient LO!
