I have a friend who had knee surgery done. I think a lot of the recovery time will depend on you and your motivation. Based on my friend's experience, it's best to work with a physical therapist afterwards - they will push you hard and you may come to dislike them, but a good PT and a good attitude will shorten the recovery time.
