I did the same with Norton and McAfee for the same reason. After doing my research (years ago), I settled on ESET NOD32. Powers up quickly and doesn't slow down my pc. Not free, but I consider it a worthwhile investment. It's also very effective. It's blocked a number of viruses over the years (on at least two laptops), but I haven't had any issues since. I do run Malwarebytes once in a while, too.
When I got my current laptop [less than a year ago, although it seems like it's been much longer...], I was told by the Microsoft guys that I didn't need an additional AV program, that Windows Defender was sufficient. Somehow I just didn't feel comfortable with that. If anyone has any thoughts on that topic, I'd be interested to hear... |
