1. Find a good CPA and take all your paperwork to them to help you straighten this out - you obviously filed wrong;
2. Don't know what withholding has to do with anything;
3. Startup costs are a deductible business expense - but are not reimbursable/refundable in a tax return; they just lower your tax liability.
4. And most important (to me) - all notary income is not tax-free - the only thing exempt from taxes is the statutory fee you can charge for notarizations (the $10 you mentioned) - and that exemption only applies to Self-employment tax. |
