You can see the hypocrisy in the media if you watch clips of how they talked about it prior to Trump talking publicly about it. They all called it the Wuhan Coronavirus, The Wuhan Flu, the WuFlu, the Chinese flu, the Chinese Coronavirus, etc. As soon as Trump called it the Chinese Coronavirus, suddenly it was racist and bigotted to do so.
Their hypocrisy and the extreme degree to which they have already politicized it is insulting to the intelligence of stable, healthy Americans on both sides. I guess that's part of why #WalkAway is such a huge phenomenon, though.
To be fair, Joe Scarborough and Dana Bash have called for people to depoliticize the issue and that it's absolutely critical to support the president in the fight to end the Covid 19 threat. They admitted that they claim almost everything Trump does is bad (meaning they don't even praise his successes, only find criticism and nothing else), but even they recognize that this status quo is posing a serious threat to our society and are trying to tell their viewers that we need unity right now. |
