Unless you are inner-city and a multi-story building, where is a shooter going to get close? A neighbor's treehouse 500 yards away like a sniper? You have a parking lot, front entrance, and fencing, just take a drive-by a variety of schools so you get an idea of how it works. It's not a funnel. You have police and teachers monitoring everything. Your car has a sticker, if not, you are asked to show your DL. They won't even release a child to you unless it was previously approved. I was very annoyed by the inconvenience when I had to do a teacher closing after school at her office. It was like Fort Knox, not to mention the line of cars to get in to park when school let out. It took me an additional 45 minutes to get to her and about 3 checkpoints and then the final was to get my picture on a badge to wear, and then had to check out. Not complaining because I know that is how it works now, but truthfully, it couldn't be any safer, and there are no chokepoints like you think there is. Not in my state anyway.
Car lanes and bus lanes are typically on the side, not the front. They have a huge loop, nobody is getting close. |
