Please keep you thoughts and prayers to yourself - they're meaningless and have never worked. God isn't listening and is not going to fix this, so we have to.
If it's mental illness, why can't we get legislation to address mental illness? Why can't we get red flag laws, which MIGHT keep guns out of the hands of people who could do harm to others? Why can't we get universal background checks to weed out those who shouldn't be allowed to have access to a gun? Why can't we just ban semiautomatic weapons except for those who might need them - such as law enforcement?
All the politicians have to offer is thoughts and prayers, and absolutely NOTHING else - no recommendations, no solutions. What we get are thoughts and prayers, and gimme more of that sweet, sweet NRA money so I can get reelected.
The ONLY common denominator with these attacks is the gun. There is no way to deny that. If you are one of those making all sorts of excuses and can't see that the gun is the only thing common to ALL of these attacks, there is something seriously wrong with you. And whatever your view of the Second Amendment is, I think it defies logic and common sense to think that our Founders wrote it so that people could use that right to slaughter innocent children. No right is absolute.
Three more families have had their lives destroyed today and have to go through life without their children. Please explain to me how this is acceptable as collateral damage for your unregulated right to own a gun. Seriously- tell me why it's more important to protect that right you think you have than it is to protect our children. Be specific - tell me why it's more important for you to have a gun than it is to protect innocents against the gun you have.
