‘Constitutional carry’ was signed into law in Florida. What this means is that legal firearm owners will no longer need to apply for and obtain a permit to conceal carry. The new law is set to go into effect on July 1, 2023, but there are restrictions.
Under the new law, you need to pass a background check, provide ID, be at least 21 years old, and be a citizen of Florida. Convicted felons and those with other certain crimes on their record are automatically disqualified to conceal carry. That means you still have to keep the gun hidden from plain site, but do not need a permit or training.
In simple terms, if you qualify to purchase a firearm in Florida, you can conceal carry. This new law does not change any of the requirements to purchase a firearm. http://worldpopulationreview.com/state-rankings/constitutional-carry-states Here's the map depicting those state.
At first, I was against it, but I think leveling the playing field with crime and mass shootings, it's a good idea, and a permit is a money grab for the state anyway. Criminals haven't been permitted I am assuming anyway jmo.
