There is video of Perry telling the officer interrogating him that he didn't want to give Foster a chance to raise the gun and aim it at it him - which obviously is very different from "he was aiming his gun at me", and may be why the jury didn't buy his story. There was also evidence presented to show that Perry deliberately drove his car into the crowd
The real problem here is that Abbot has said he will pardon him before he's even been sentenced - in TX, the governor cannot issue a pardon unless it has been recommended by a review board. Abbot is in his third term and has a history of being very stingy about pardons, yet here he is, stating his intention to pardon this guy before his case is even closed and reviewed. Why? |
