That link was posted on the American Notary Association's FB blog. I wouldn't be surprised if they have a computer doing searches for anything that uses the term "notary" and posting it on FB without any screening. Lots of what I've seen from them, like articles on RON, is stuff that is contrary to our interests, and sometimes appears to be aiding in the promotion of disinformation. Very disappointing!
In case anyone is interested, here's what I posted in reply:
<<As a Notary Public for 20 years, I believe calling the Corda blockchain a "notary service" is inaccurate at best, and fraudulent at worst. Blockchain promoters seem intent on trying to enhance the credibility of their service by associating it with the term "notary", which is deceptive, IMO. Readers of this blog should know that a Notary Public does NOT validate the content of a document. We witness signatures and verify the IDENTITY and willingness of the signer(s). The content of the document is none of our concern. ING should find a different term to describe what they're offering with their blockchain service.>>
Probably won't make one whit of difference. (Slow day today...)
