IMO, the notarial certificate is the notary's domain. Whatever is in the notarial certificate is the notary's responsibility. Again, IMO, no one should tamper with the executed notarial certificate.
My question: Where does said certificate start and end? If not a loose, attached certificate, does it end immediately after the notary's signature or immediately after the notary's seal?
Reason for query: I just saw a pdf copy of DOT I recently notarized. The signature page included the notarial acknowledgment (California compliant). Nowhere at bottom of that certificate did it call for notary's printed name or commission expiration date. (In California, our seal clearly contains our name and commission expiration date) Someone had hand-written my name and commission expiration date under my signature.
I resent this.
