notary permission to have a copy for notary files. The notary asks, and gives a reason, and if the document owner agrees, then a copy of the document along with the ack is kept in a "client file". If they say, no, then nothing is kept except notes in notary journal. That's the way I did it way back when I had an office. I used to keep documents for those "just in case you gotta cya" moments. Luckily I never did need to go back and dig these up. All old files shredded and gone.

Since I work from home now, I don't have any client files, other than my closing files, but no bo documents. Those get deleted right away after closing as I don't need that extra storage on my pc or laptop.

I haven't done a travel document in years and for that type of gnw I now refer folks out to the local currency exchange or UPS stores.
